Trying a new barbershop always comes with a few questions. Do I need an appointment? Where do I park? Will they actually listen to what I want? Here is everything you need to know before your first visit to KP's Barber Shop in Richardson, so the only thing left to think about is the cut.

Walk in or book ahead

Both work. Walk-ins are welcome whenever we're open: come in, grab a seat and we'll get you in the chair as soon as one frees up.

If you would rather not wait, book your chair on Booksy. Booking holds your time, so you can show up and sit right down. It is the easiest option if you are on a lunch break or bringing a kid who doesn't like to wait.

Finding the shop

We're at 2100 Alamo Rd, Ste T, Richardson, TX 75080, right behind Paleteria Nuevo León. If you can find the paleteria, you have found us. The quickest way is to open our location in Google Maps and follow the directions to the door.

Parking is free: there is a lot right outside the door, plus free street parking.

When we're open

We're open every day, from 10 AM:

  • Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: 10 AM to 8 PM
  • Thursday: 10 AM to 8:30 PM
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 10 AM to 9 PM

The contact page always has the current hours, along with directions and a live open or closed status.

When you walk in

The shop is one bright, clean room: green leather benches down the middle, brass barber chairs along both walls and big windows onto the lot. Drinks are free while you wait, and there is a restroom.

Everyone is welcome here. KP's is LGBTQ+ friendly, and kids of every age sit in our chairs too, including little ones under 3. If you are bringing one for the first time, read our tips for a kid's first haircut.

In the chair

This is the part that matters. Sit down, tell us what you want, or show us a photo, and we'll tell you honestly what will work with your hair. If you are not sure what to ask for, say so: we will suggest something and talk it through before the clippers come out.

Then we cut it properly. Most of what we do is fades: skin, low, mid and high fades and soft tapers, blended slowly until there is no line to find. Every cut is finished with a clean edge, lined up with a straight razor, so it still looks right a week later. Not sure whether you want a fade or a taper? Our guide to skin fades and tapers explains the difference.

As a rough guide to timing:

  • A haircut takes about 40 minutes.
  • A haircut and beard takes about an hour, with the beard shaped to your face and blended into the fade.
  • A quick line up between cuts takes about 20 minutes.

The full list of services is on our services page.

Paying

We take credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay (tap to pay), and cash. Every price is listed on our prices page, and a fade costs the same as a regular haircut. The one service priced by length is the perm, and we confirm that price before we start.

Accessibility

The shop has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, wheelchair-accessible parking and an accessible restroom. If there is anything that would make your visit easier, call before you come and let us know.

A quick checklist

Before you head over:

  1. Decide whether to walk in or book on Booksy.
  2. Check the hours: we open at 10 AM every day.
  3. Save a photo of the cut you want, if you have one.
  4. Head for 2100 Alamo Rd, behind Paleteria Nuevo León, and park in the free lot.

That's it. Come as you are, tell us what you're after, and leave looking sharp. If you want to know a little more about us first, here is our story.
